Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney and his wife, Patricia, will receive honorary degrees from Allegheny College at its commencement May 9.
Mr. Rooney, who is former ambassador to Ireland, and Ms. Rooney, who has done a wide range of philanthropic work, are among four people receiving honorary degrees.
The other two are Mark Shields, political commentator and PBS NewsHour host, and John Herbert Niles, an Allegheny graduate who advocates for health of women and children in the Washington, D.C., area.
Mr. Shields will give the commencement address to about 470 graduating seniors at 2 p.
