Claypool: ‘Definitely Do Have To Be Better’ Following Puzzling First Down Celebration Late In Loss

Though the Pittsburgh Steelers’ defense certainly wasn’t good enough to win on Thursday night in Minnesota, a rough defensive performance is on the back burner thanks to the mind blowing display from one Chase Claypool late in the game with the Steelers driving for a potential game-tying score.

With no timeouts left and down by eight points, Claypool caught a slant on an RPO from Ben Roethlisberger near the hashmarks with 40 seconds left in the game. As the clock continued to wind, instead of getting up and racing to the middle of the field to hand the football to an official, Claypool signaled a first down, was slow to get up and get the football to an official, then had veteran offensive lineman Trai Turner trying to rip the football from his grip before then losing the football and costing more time.
