The common refrain in recent years has been that even if the Pittsburgh Steelers find a young quarterback, will Mike Tomlin and his staff be able to develop him? Will Howard is not exactly a first round talent, but he was drafted by the Steelers and this question has once again come to the front and center.
For some reference, let’s consider that when Mike Tomlin became the head coach, Ben Roethlisberger was already an established quarterback for the Steelers. There was no need to ‘develop’ him as he was what he was for the most part. Throughout Tomlin’s time, there has never been a need to draft a quarterback on day one on the NFL Draft.
