Pittsburgh Steelers DL Cam Heyward was not fined for his roughing the passer penalty against Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders in Week 17’s game. The NFL opted against docking Heyward’s pay more than $17,000 for the hit, ostensibly ruling it legal despite drawing a flag.
No Steelers were fined from Sunday’s game.
The play occurred early in the second half. Heyward used his patented bull rush to collapse the pocket but landed on Sanders, violating the NFL’s “body weight” rule. A controversial penalty especially as Heyward attempted to avoid putting full force into Sanders, pulling his arm up as the two went to the ground.
