A few days after stating that he wanted to “ruin” the Pittsburgh Steelers’ season with a win at Huntington Bank Field in Week 17, Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward stepped up when it mattered most Sunday in Cleveland.
On the final three offensive plays of the game from the 7-yard line, Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers targeted wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who had Ward on him in coverage. All three throws went incomplete, including the fourth-down shot to the back corner of the end zone that both Rodgers and Valdes-Scantling believed was defensive pass interference.
