Brown: Pat Freiermuth Has Been Selfless And Clutch, And Somewhere Heath Miller Is Smiling

Comparisons to Heath Miller were inevitable when the Steelers made Pat Freiermuth their highest-drafted tight end since 2005 — the year they struck gold with Miller at the end of the first round.

Freiermuth’s rookie season made them inescapable.

Ben Roethlisberger, as with Miller, took an instant liking to Freiermuth. Seven of his 22 TD passes in 2021 went to the second-round pick. Five more than to 2020 rookie sensation Chase Claypool.

Fans also connected with Freiermuth. And “Muuuth!” chants at home games were an obvious one-syllable bridge linking the past (“Heeeath”) and the future.
