Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh are the NFL’s two longest-tenured head coaches with their respective teams, and both face a crossroads in Week 18 in a win-or-go-home matchup against each other.
SI.com’s Albert Breer thinks there is more at stake than the playoffs for both coaches.
“Next week’s Ravens-Steelers game is going to be treated like Referendum Sunday,” Breer wrote. “Both of these coaches will have their names featured on the inside of the stadiums they coach in. However, when there are bumps in the road, questions will arise on whether the organization needs a new voice—and those questions have come up…In a certain way, it will surely feel like there’s more on the line than just a playoff berth.
