After 19 seasons, Mike Tomlin has stepped down as the Pittsburgh Steelers head coach. His decision came on the heels of the team’s 30-6 loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, and Tomlin informed team owner Art Rooney II today and also informed his team. Following the news of Tomlin stepping down, Rooney issued a statement thanking Tomlin for his tenure as the team’s head coach.
“During our meeting today, Coach Tomlin informed me that he has decided to step down as our Head Coach. Obviously, I am extremely grateful to Mike for all the hard work, dedication and success we have shared over the last 19 years.
