After weeks, and really years, of media speculation that Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin would step down as Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, that day came on Tuesday. Tomlin first informed team owner Art Rooney II before informing his team he would be stepping down from his role as head coach. While the news came as a surprise to many, owner Art Rooney II admitted that he “wasn’t shocked” by Tomlin’s decision.

“It was his decision. I will say that I wasn’t shocked, but I wasn’t expecting that conversation yesterday either. When you get to this stage of a career, he even mentioned it himself that he near to the end at the beginning, and so you could see that coming, and so I can’t say that I was shocked,” Rooney said in a press conference via the team’s YouTube channel.
