There was some debate as to the positional efficacy of the selection of a running back in the fourth round when other clear needs like safety and defensive tackle went left unaddressed up to that point, but by and large, there really didn’t seem to be a negative opinion about Anthony McFarland out of Maryland as a player.
Even Pro Football Focus appears to be a fan of the young man, and even believes that he has found himself in one of the better running back situations among those who were drafted this year. Michael Renner recently compiled a list of the best situations rookie running backs are stepping into this year, and McFarland was included at the number nine spot.
