After crushing the NFL Draft, the Steelers spent the last week deservedly getting their flowers in the post-draft analysis across the media. The Steelers had major needs on the offensive line, as well as at wide receiver, and linebacker. Pittsburgh made smart picks addressing each of those and even managed to add depth to the defensive line.
However, a single draft class rarely fixes every need a team has. Going into this draft, fans and media alike identified Pittsburgh as a team that could look to bolster its secondary. The team also extended defensive coordinator Teryl Austin, whose extensive work coaching defensive backs seemed to indicate Pittsburgh might be prioritizing the position.
