It has been a trying season for Alex Highsmith, dealing with a series of injuries, yet he is playing some of the best football of his career. Somewhat quietly, for example, he is leading the team in sacks, despite missing four games. Of course, T.J. Watt has also missed a few games, but Highsmith has been arguably the Steelers’ best edge player.
And that hasn’t been easy given his body’s evident refusal to cooperate. Despite taking measures to stave off soft-tissue injuries, Highsmith hasn’t been able to avoid them. That started back in training camp, Highsmith dealing with a groin injury.
