Anyone who watched the Steelers’ exhilarating win over the Rams on Sunday should remember exactly what they were thinking when Mike Tomlin left the offense on the field for a 4th and 1 play at their own 34 yard line with 8:55 remaining and the Steelers clinging to a 14-12 lead.
To that point, the offense had produced just seven points and gained a meager 225 yards. The Rams defense had actually out-scored them, tallying nine points of their own on a fumble return and a safety. All-World defensive tackle Aaron Donald had made Steelers guard David DeCastro, a pretty fair player in his own right, look silly on the safety just a few plays prior.
