2020 NFL Draft Player Profiles: Florida EDGE Jonathan Greenard

#58/Jonathan Greenard/EDGE/Florida/6’3”, 263 Lbs

The Good:

  • -Sets up inside counter with great burst off the ball
  • -Consistently threatens edge with get-off and bend
  • -Determined run defender with a hot motor
  • -Good length and strength for the position
  • -Short area explosion is really impressive and jumps off the screen for the position and body type
  • -Has a clear rush plan at the snap and sets it up well throughout the game

The Bad:

  • -Struggles with consistency in converting speed to power
  • -Pad level fluctuates; doesn’t have the anchor strength or drive strength when pad level is elevated
  • -Wins too often with get-off and leans on his speed too much off the edge
  • -Has a tough time finishing in space against running backs
  • -Needs to develop hand usage a bit more at the next level
  • -Limited in coverage reps and struggles in spot drops with feel and awareness

Bio:

  • -Transferred to Florida as a graduate student for 2019 season from Louisville
  • -Missed entire 2018 season at Louisville with torn wrist ligaments
  • -Was named team captain for Cardinals before 2018 season
  • -Redshirted in 2015
  • -Played in 26 games at Louisville, starting 7 games total
  • -Finished college career with 19.
