Steelers Rumors: Steelers to draft Texas A&M WR prospect Mike Evans?

With many in the land of Steelers rumors placing wide receiver as one of the biggest needs for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2014 NFL Draft, one analyst has a player in mind who could step in and contribute right away.

Alan Robinson of The Steel Mill blog on TribLive.com believes that former Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans fits the bill for what the Pittsburgh Steelers are looking for in a potential franchise wideout --

"Not only he is an offense-changing receiver, he’s 6-foot-5 with more-than-adequate speed, great moves and an ability to outmuscle smaller cornerbacks; that’s a big advantage when going up against press coverages. He doesn’t drop many passes, and he’s a huge asset in the red zone. Think Ben Roethlisberger wouldn’t like having this guy to throw to?"

Robinson posits that the New York Giants could select Johnny Manziel's former target with the #12 pick in May's NFL Draft, but that if the Giants decide to look elsewhere, "it’s difficult to envision the Steelers passing on him."
