Here’s a recap of Thursday’s action in winter league ball for members of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Australian league had their Opening Day on Thursday.

In Australia, the Sydney Blue Sox went heavy with Pirates in their Opening Day lineup.

Jesus Castillo (pictured above) batted lead-off and went 1-for-4 with a single. The 19-year-old shortstop from Venezuela won the batting title in the FCL this year with a .352 average.

Ernny Ordonez went 0-for-3 with a HBP in the cleanup spot

Sammy Siani went 0-for-4 while batting fifth

Dylan Shockley batted sixth and he went 0-for-3 with a walk and three strikeouts.
