Today is freedom day for 149 major league players. That includes 1B/OF John Jaso and RHP Joaquin Benoit of the Pirates. I think it’s pretty safe to assume that neither is coming back. In fact, Jaso has said he’ll probably retire and Benoit will, if nothing else, have that decision made for him. Jaso finishes with a line of 245/342/409, along with 18 HRs and 77 RBIs, in two seasons in Pittsburgh. Benoit went 0-2, 7.56 in eight and a third utterly pointless innings with the team.
