Two new mock drafts have been released, one by MLB Pipeline and one by Baseball America. After months of hearing Brooks Lee for the Pittsburgh Pirates with the fourth overall pick, both sources have the Pirates selecting JUCO third baseman Cam Collier.
Collier has been loosely connected to the Pirates since mid-May, which led to him being featured in our Draft Prospect Watch series (link above). However, since that first connection, he finished off his college season strong, then did well in summer ball in the Cape Cod League. He’s still just 17 years old, as he graduated early to get to junior college sooner.
