Taillon has surgery for testicular cancer

Jameson Taillon was treated for suspected testicular cancer at Pittsburgh's Allegheny General Hospital on Monday, the Pirates announced.

Dr. John C. Lyne performed the surgery on Monday morning, and further treatment will be determined after upcoming tests. Taillon alerted the Pirates' medical staff and consulted with Lyne over the weekend.

"Jameson has again proven to us what a strong person he is by the way in which he has reacted to this development. We are appreciative of Dr. Lyne and the staff at Allegheny General Hospital for their invaluable expertise and efforts in caring for Jameson," Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said in a statement.
