Some MLB teams are choosing to sleep in. The Pirates aren't yet joining them.

BRADENTON, Fla. — Daniel Nava set his alarm for 7 a.m. on Sunday, but it felt like 6 a.m., or maybe even 4 a.m. Nava, who had back surgery in Arizona in late February, was still a bit jet-lagged.

“I’m still adjusting to Florida time, so I’ve been taking a nap or laying down for a little bit after I get here, because I’m still used to staying up late there,” Nava said.

The Pirates outfielder reports to spring training around 7:30 a.m. each morning, which is about an hour and a half earlier than he arrives at the park for day games during the regular season.
