Sheriff's Office deletes photos of Pirate Parrot 'gun license'

An appearance by the Pirate Parrot ruffled feathers after photos of the team mascot receiving a fake firearms license from the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office were posted to social media Monday.

The Pirates mascot was booked for a paid appearance for Allegheny County Sheriff William P. Mullen’s birthday, according to Pirates vice president of communications Brian Warecki, and played along when lined up for a headshot. Photos posted to the office’s Facebook page depict the Pirate Parrot interacting with a sheriff’s deputy and a closeup of the faux license. The caption read: “We're hoping this guy can help get Firearms up and running.
