Pirates reliever Geoff Hartlieb underwent surgery on his right foot Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery in time for the 2020 season.
The 25-year-old right-hander, who appeared in 29 games with the Pirates this season, posted a post-surgery photo on Instagram Wednesday afternoon.
The photo showed him lying in a hospital bed with a heavily bandaged right foot – and Hartlieb flashing two thumbs up.
