The Battle of Pennsylvania is renewed this evening as the Pittsburgh Pirates (15-16) open a four-game series with the Phillies (11-21) in Philadelphia.
It is the fourth consecutive year that the Pirates and Phillies have played a four-game set at Citizens Bank Park. The Bucs are coming off a 4-3 victory Sunday at home against the St. Louis Cardinals. Tonight is Pittsburgh’s first series of the season against an opponent from the National League Eastern Division.
Lefthander Antonio Bastardo was placed on the Paternity List Monday by the Bucs. Bobby LaFromboise, also a southpaw, was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to take his spot.
