Every year, each Major League Baseball teams find hidden gems in their draft class. For the Pittsburgh Pirates, right-handed pitcher Michael Burrows may prove to be one such example from the 2018 draft class.
The Pirates selected Burrows out of Waterford High School in Connecticut in the 11th round of the 2018 MLB Draft. Burrows quickly signed with the club, and was able to begin his professional career last summer.
Last summer, Burrows pitched in four games, with three of them being starts, for the Gulf Coast League Pirates. In these four games Burrows allowed six hits, he walked four, plunked a pair, and struck out nine in 14 innings pitched.
