The Pittsburgh Pirates are saying goodbye to one of their long-term pieces on the roster.
According to MLB.com reporter Mark Feinsand, the Pirates are trading Ke’Bryan Hayes to the Cincinnati Reds for Sammy Stafura and Taylor Rogers.
Hayes, 28, has five years left on his contract and is considered to be one of the best third basemen in terms of defense in the league. Offensively, Hayes is batting .236 with 36 RBI’s so far this season.
In return, the Pirates get Stafura, a 20-year-old shortstop who was taken in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
