Pirates Sign Their 40th Round Draft Pick

The Pittsburgh Pirates have signed 40th round draft pick Daniel Zamora, a left-handed pitcher out of SUNY Stony Brook. He was teammates with catcher Kevin Krause, who was drafted in the ninth round last year by the Pirates. Zamora is 22 years old, though he has missed some time, sitting out the entire 2014 season due to a torn labrum. He is said to throw a fastball with a lot of movement that sits in the high-80's, with a nice curve/change mix to go along with excellent control. Zamora was drafted out of high school by the Blue Jays in the 27th round in 2012.
