The Pirates have removed George Kontos from the set-up man role, manager Clint Hurdle said Tuesday.
Hurdle said Kontos would pitch in various roles going forward. He also said no one pitcher would be anointed the eighth-inning reliever. He mentioned Michael Feliz, Edgar Santana, Kyle Crick and Richard Rodriguez as possibilities to pitch in the eighth on different occasions.
