The Pittsburgh Pirates have called up 21-year-old shortstop prospect Liover Peguero from Altoona after Tucupita Marcano had to be placed on the COVID-19 Injured List. Peguero was the only player on the Altoona roster who is also on the 40-man roster, making it easy for the Pirates to get him from their home game in Altoona to PNC Park in time for tonight’s game.
Peguero isn’t in the starting lineup tonight and he might not be with the team long, but he gets a chance to get a taste of the big leagues. He’s hitting .292/.315/.469 in 54 games this season.
