The Pittsburgh Pirates placed pitcher Wil Crowe on the 15-day injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the St Louis Cardinals due to right elbow inflammation. Pitcher Junior Fernandez has been recalled from Indianapolis to take his place on the 28-man roster for the final five days of the season.
Fernandez pitched for the Cardinals in each of the last four seasons, posting a 5.51 ERA in 50.2 innings over 47 games.
Crowe has struggled recently with a 10.61 ERA in September. He finishes the season with a 4.38 ERA in 60 appearances, with a 1.39 WHIP in 76 innings.
