The Pirates acquired right-hander Pat Light from the Minnesota Twins Thursday, adding another arm to an already crowded bullpen competition.
The Pirates will send a player to be named or cash to Minnesota to complete the trade. To make room for Light, they designated righty Lisalverto Bonilla for assignment.
Light, 25, had a 2.37 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 31 appearances at Class AAA in the Twins and Boston Red Sox organizations in 2016. He also made his major league debut last season, allowing 21 earned runs, 22 hits and 16 walks in 16u2154 innings for Boston and Minnesota.
