The Pirates optioned corner infielder Jason Rogers to Class AAA Indianapolis after Wednesday’s game against the Cubs, a move that could mean Jung Ho Kang is close to returning.
The Pirates did not announce the move, but posted it on their transaction page.
Rogers joined the team April 22, when they sent Cole Figueroa to the minors. Rogers received 18 plate appearances in nine games and went 1 for 13 with four walks and six strikeouts.
Kang is rehabbing with Indianapolis. He had serious surgery on his left knee in September but is almost ready to return to the majors.
