As the 2025 MLB season enters its final weeks, the Pittsburgh Pirates got a promising update on one of their injured players that will already have fans looking forward to 2026.

According to Pirates senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk, right-handed pitcher Jared Jones has been cleared by medical staff to begin a light throwing program.

Jones, who underwent an internal brace surgery on his right elbow in May, hasn't pitched for the Pirates since his breakout rookie season in 2024 that saw him finish with a 4.14 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 121 2/3 innings over 22 starts.
