The Pirates claimed right-handed pitcher Jesus Liranzo from the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday and optioned him to Class AA Altoona.
Liranzo, 23, has a 4.85 ERA in 31 games, 12 starts, for Class AA Bowie in the Baltimore Orioles organization last year. He struck out 75 batters, but walked 43, in 65 innings. The Orioles traded him to the Dodgers earlier this week.
