After watching Kyle Schwarber and Jorge Polanco sign with other teams, this hyped-up Pirates offseason has been quite disapointing. Gregory Soto has been the only major league addition to this team, and he isn't even a hitter. The only real offensive addition the Pirates have made is Jhostynxon Garcia, acquired from the Red Sox, but Ben Cherington isn't expecting an immediate impact from him at the big league level.
Garcia still remains a top 100 prospect, and he is spending his winter playing baseball in Venezuela to improve. The Pirates planned to give him until the 21st of December to play down in Winter Ball, but his time was cut short this weekend.
