Tuesday night was the deadline to add prospects to the 40-man roster to protect them from next month’s Rule 5 draft. The Pittsburgh Pirates added top 100 prospects Endy Rodriguez and Mike Burrows, as well as pitcher Colin Selby and third baseman Jared Triolo. To make room on the 40-man roster, catcher Tyler Heineman and pitchers Jeremy Beasley, Junior Fernandez and Manny Bañuelos have been designated for assignment.
Endy Rodriguez was named as our Player of the Year, as well as the Pirates minor league Player of the Year and he won the South Atlantic League MVP.
