The Pirates are either the dumbest MLB organization or are simply out-thinking themselves. I can’t figure out which fits better, but their decisions in recent weeks have me leaning towards the former.
Gregory Polanco and Sean Rodriguez weren’t in the Pirates’ lineup Monday night. That’s smart. Polanco is a bad fielder who is hitting barely above the Mendoza line, and Rodriguez is hitting .162. It should be a no-brainer that neither of those two players gets to start with any degree of regularity.
The Pirates’ best three outfielders at this point, by a wide margin, are Starling Marte, Austin Meadows and Corey Dickerson.
