Offense sputters late as Brewers outlast Pirates, 5-3

The Milwaukee Brewers got two late runs off the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen en route to a 5-3 victory in game two, securing the weekend series. The win improved the Brewers to 37-28 while Pittsburgh dropped to 30-33.

It was tit-for-tat scoring early but Pittsburgh’s offense was silenced as the Brewers added two more runs. Ultimately, the bullpen couldn’t keep the game tied nor could the offense get much going after three runs were scored in the first three innings.

For Milwaukee, Zach Davies went five innings and allowed three earned runs (one home run) on seven hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
