Neil Walker watched the Penguins win from the tarmac at JFK

Try as she might, Mother Nature could not keep Neil Walker from watching the Penguins’ Game 7 win over the Ottawa Senators.

The New York Mets were stuck on the tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport until 2:15 a.m. Friday, so the Pittsburgh native Walker live-streamed the game on his cell phone.

The Mets’ 4-3 loss to the San Diego Padres ended at 10:27 p.m., and Penguins winger Chris Kunitz scored the winner at 11:51 p.m., sending the Penguins to the Stanley Cup final. Walker, playing second base for the Mets, celebrated with left-hander Josh Edgin, who grew up in Lewiston, Pa.
