McCutchen on first career ejection: 'I don't want to feel like I'm being stepped over'

Until the seventh inning Sunday night, Andrew McCutchen had entered and exited the batter’s box 4,823 times in major league games without getting run by a home-plate umpire. McCutchen’s first ejection finally came after plate appearance No. 4,824. The umpire was Chris Conley.

“It was a good one, wasn’t it?” McCutchen asked afterward.

McCutchen spiked his bat and berated Conley after a called third strike on a pitch well below the zone. Conley called the low strike most of the night, but McCutchen’s fury boiled over on this one.
