BRADENTON, Fla. -— The Pirates added another left-handed relief option Saturday when they signed Kevin Siegrist to a minor league contract.
Siegrist, 28, pitched for the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies in 2017. After four seasons as one of the better lefty relievers in the National League with St. Louis, back and forearm injuries affected him last season. He had a 4.81 ERA in 46 appearances and struck out 9.8 batters per nine, but walked five batters per nine.
Siegrist had a 0.45 ERA in his rookie year in 2013 and led the league with 81 appearances in 2015, when he had a 2.
