Kapanen, Malkin end dry spells during Penguins' 4-1 victory over Coyotes

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Kasperi Kapanen realizes that the goal didn't earn him a new long-term contract.

He also understands that it isn't going to stop his name from being mentioned -- probably a lot -- as the NHL trade deadline Monday at 3 p.m. approaches.

But when a guy reputed to be a goal-scorer has gone 20 games without getting one, well, when the drought finally ends, it is reason to celebrate.

So, when Kapanen opened the scoring in what became a 4-1 Penguins victory against the Coyotes at Gila River Arena Saturday, he did.
