The Pirates will conclude a three game home stand in Bradenton on Friday, as the Twins will be visiting McKechnie Field. Francisco Liriano will get the start and pitch two innings- which is routine this time of the year. Mark Melancon is also scheduled to get an inning today as well. Along with ace Gerrit Cole, Liriano will be relied upon to deliver as he has the past three seasons with the ball club. With the addition of Jon Niese to the rotation, and the uncertainty of the backend, anchored by Jeff Locke and Ryan Vogelsong, the Pirates are hopeful that the front end of the rotation and the bullpen depth will be a strength, and lead to sustained success.
