Deserved runs created plus, or DRC+ is one of the best all-encompassing offensive stats to look at when evaluating different players. It’s a league/era, and park-adjusted stat where 100 is the league average. Obviously, it was harder to hit a home run in 1900 than in 2019, and it’s easier to hit a home run in Coors Field than Oracle Park.
However, unlike other rate metrics such as wRC+ or OPS+, DRC+ also takes into account other factors such as the quality of the opponent. A batter who consistently does well vs a Jacob deGrom, or Kirby Yates caliber pitcher should be more valuable than one who only does well vs Matt Boyd or Alex Colome caliber pitchers.
