SEATTLE — In recent days, the Pirates lost two players who had been on their opening day roster this spring. Left-hander Cory Luebke rejected his minor league assignment and was released Sunday, and the Los Angeles Dodgers claimed infielder Cole Figueroa off waivers Tuesday.
Figueroa, 28, was designated for assignment Friday and now joins the Dodgers’ Class AAA team in Oklahoma City. Figueroa played sparingly in two stints with the Pirates this season. He went 2 for 26 at the plate. He started twice and played 36 innings in the field.
