Roberto Perez
After trading Gold Glove winner Jacob Stallings to the Miami Marlins, the Pirates didn’t wait long to get their replacement, signing Roberto Perez to an one-year contract.
The 33-year old Perez isn’t much of an offensive threat, but he brings quite the defensive resume along with him from Cleveland. Perez has won two Gold Gloves, and caught three separate Cy Young winners during his career.
Perez probably won’t do this too often during the season, and he hasn’t hit overtly well during Spring (5-for-22) but two of his five hits now have gone for extra-bases.
