Not a fan of the Pirates’ present divisional home in the NL Central? They may soon be relocating.

Baseball America’s Tracy Ringolsby wrote Monday that there’s a “growing consensus” in baseball that the major leagues will eventually grow by two to 32 teams, and such expansion would necessitate changes in scheduling and divisional structure.

Ringoslby details one proposal under which baseball would undergo massive realignment that would eliminate the sport’s two venerable leagues and replace them with four geographically focused divisions that mimic the NHL’s.

Under that proposal, he writes that the Pirates could slot into a re-imagined East division with Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Miami, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay and Washington.
