Sean Rodriguez was back in the Pirates lineup Sunday for his third start in a row despite going 2 for 35 in his last 19 games, dating to May 20. He will start at shortstop as Jordy Mercer gets the day off.
“We’re looking for a breakthrough; he’s looking for a breakthrough,” manager Clint Hurdle said. “The game’s been hard for us the past month. It’s been hard for him for a while now. … So trying to get him some reps. Can't just wait for left-handed pitching, trying to get some guys. This guy [Clay Buchholz] he’s seen a little bit of, we’ll see where it goes.
