Chad Kuhl will not throw for another four weeks as he continues treatment for a right forearm/elbow strain, Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday. After the four weeks off, Kuhl is expected to resume a flat-ground throwing program.
Kuhl had an appointment with David Altchek of the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Altchek, an orthopedic surgeon, is the medical director for the New York Mets.
“He confirmed with our physicians’ assessment that conservative management is the route to go at this point,” Tomczyk said.
Kuhl initially experienced the forearm issue during a start against the Mets June 26.
