Bad acquisitions, an idiotic roster situation and nonsensical deployments make the Pirates full of ‘What ifs?’

The Pittsburgh Pirates chased San Francisco Giants starter and reigning NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell out of Wednesday’s game before he could complete the 4th inning with the bases loaded. Bryan Reynolds immediately hit a grand slam off reliever Sean Hjelle.

In the top of the 5th, Jared Jones, who did not have his best control, gave up a leadoff double and then a single from Jorge Soler brought in the runner. Jones buckled down and limited the damage to just one.

Then it all went off the rails.

The Pirates lost 9-5 and they have no one but themselves to blame.
