Andy Barkett will replace Dean Treanor as manager of the Pirates’ Class AAA Indianapolis affiliate, the team announced Friday.
Treanor took a job as the bullpen coach of the Miami Marlins earlier this month.
Barkett was the Pirates’ assistant minor league hitting coordinator. He has eight years of minor league managerial experience in the Marlins and Detroit Tigers organizations.
Michael Ryan, previously the manager of high-A Bradenton, will manage Class AA Altoona. He replaces Joey Cora, whom the Pirates promoted to third-base coach. Gera Alvarez will replace Ryan in Bradenton.
